Current Student Support

The local clubs play a special role in continuing the bonds of the Notre Dame family by providing support to current students. Student support can take the form of local scholarships, Alumni Schools Committee activities, a Student Send-Off event, sponsoring Summer Service programs, promoting the extern and mentorship programs.

NOTRE DAME CLUB OF GETTYSBURG PROJECTS

(Projects will be updated for 2010 as they occur.)

Scholarship Fund - The Club established an endowed scholarship fund via the University in 2007. Click here for picture.  As this fund grows students will be selected for scholarships from the fund. In 2008 the club provided another check for $10,000 to Chuck Lennon as our contribution. Senate Photo  A third donation of $6,000 was added to our fund in 2009. Senate 2009 We also provided scholarship dollars for the first time in 2009, although it was a very small amount. Finally, our 2010 check for $6,000 was presented to Chuck at Senate, bringing our total endowment up to $32,000.

Help the Notre Dame Club of Gettysburg Scholarship Fund - Did you know that you can help our local club with your donation to the University's Annual Fund? When you send in your contribution to the annual fund, just request that the money be allocated to the Notre Dame Club of Gettysburg Scholarship Fund. Your generosity will help us make the Notre Dame experience available to more sudents from our area.

Michigan Game Raffle - The club is once again partnering with the Athletic Boosters Club of Delone Catholic High School in conducting a raffle of 2 Michigan game tickets and 2 nights in a hotel in South Bend. Sales to date have been surpassing past raffles. Last year the tickets were for the USC game and the winner was pulled at the Delone scrimmage game in McSherrystown. Each organization made over $2,000 on this event. For our club this money will be added to our Scholarship Fund. Ticket Winner!

College Fairs   - The club participated in two College Fairs in September of 2009, one at Gettysburg College and one at Hanover High School. Jeanette Miller coordinated our efforts for these events where we provided brochures and other information to prospective students. The Gettysburg fair included all high schools in Adams County while the one in Hanover included Hanover, Delone Catholic, and South Western High Schools. At each event Dale and Jeanette Miller (parents) were in attendance as well as at least one grad from the University. Plans for 2010 include participation at these two fairs.   Event Bulletin

Study Breaks - The clubs sponsors our students for the annual Study Breaks - one with a "care package" and the other with a pizza party.

Book Award - Each year the club presents a book award to the Delone Catholic High junior student who has the highest GPA of his/her class. The club chose the Dictionary as our book to award because words represent the foundation of all knowledge. This award is presented at the annual awards ceremony at Delone, which is held in the first week of June. The student is also provided with a $50 gift certificate to Staples. In 2010 the award was presented to Olivia Harper Wilkins.  Event Bulletin

Student Sendoff   - Eighteen club members and guests attended Mass at the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in McSherrystown and then went to dinner at Bay City restaurant in Hanover to give a proper "send-off" to Emily Franz for her first year at Notre Dame. Attendees in the picture are pointing to Emily saying "she's the one!". Also in attendance was Emily Garnett, our recent graduate (in the green dress). We had a great time! Go Emily and Go Irish! Our send-off for 2010 is scheduled for August 14th. Event Bulletin
